Rick Wakeman’s incredible keyboard playing can be heard on tracks ranging from David Bowie’s Life on Mars to Cat Stevens’ Morning Has Broken, as well as with the band Yes, and on his own countless records. Less well-known is the fact that he is a lifelong Christian. Reform talked to him briefly at the Christian Resources Exhibition in Birmingham, then caught up by email

You’ve produced an incredible range of music – solo, in bands, session work, with orchestras and choirs, across many genres. What makes you most proud?
The joy of playing, regardless of where, and also regardless of the type of concert. I just feel so blessed to be able to write and perform music. And hopefully that joy will continue until health takes its toll and I am no longer able to play….
