Jim Gasgoine remembers a pioneer calling
Perhaps the journey began before I was born. ‘In the womb you knew me,’ wrote the psalmist.
Perhaps it was in the family. My great grandfather, the Revd JG Gascoigne was a Congregational minister. Perhaps it was at All Saints, Allesley in Coventry, where I was baptised on my parents’ first wedding anniversary, the date, 33 years later, when I was ordained.
Perhaps growing up nearby at Holyhead Road Church, where my teenage defiance dissolved. And at Brownshill Green, which nurtured me to explore lay preaching…
