This year he becomes the Moderator of the General Assembly for the United Reformed Church. Were you brought up in the faith?
Very much so. My mother came from a Brethren background, my father was a Reformed Presbyterian, and they were from the mountains of Virginia, the Alleghany Range. They were working class people, salt of the earth, worked really hard, did the best they could, and church was very much a part of our lives. Every Sunday, and usually Wednesdays and Sunday nights…
